Entrances

I saved taking photos until the weekend as we went to Liverpool
to see a show at the Echo Area with Catherine and Mark
We travelled down on Friday afternoon intending to do some sight seeing but there was an accident on the motorway and we were held up for 4 hours.
We arrived at Jurys Inn, booked in and went for a meal, just giving us just enough time to get to the show.
We saw Freda Payne, The Platters, The Temptations and the Four tops.
The show was brilliant and we enjoyed every minute. People were dancing in the aisles.

We did some sight seeing on Saturday went down to the Mersey Ferry but the weather wasn't good so we ended up in the museum.
There wasn't enough time to do much else so we really have to go again. I really want to go to Tate Liverpool on Albert Docks.

Doors 1

I may have taken a photo of our front door before but I am still very pleased with it so I've got another photo today.

This weekend I joined in a fun weekend on UKScrappers.
There were challenges, quizzes and classes.
There are 6 scrapbook layouts to do and download before the 22nd March.

I've managed to finish 2 scrapbook pages yesterday and today.
I have not done any layouts for a long while so this is quite hard work but exciting

This Challenge was called Ribbons

This was a class using
Washi tape
but as I didn't have any I cut up strips of scrapbooking paper

With Flash

I try not to use flash very often as I never seem to take good photos with it.
These are a flash photos of an unfinished layout
This one is how my flash photos usually turn out.
I've taken this one at an angle
I think I need to experiment more with Flash

Light, reflection etc

For the last 2 days I've been busy with Blue brad fun nights. They are quite intense but I am enjoying them. There is a challenge, a game and a class each night. The last night is tonight and I'm looking forward to it.
Yesterday Roland and I went to finalise details for our party we now just need to get some sweets for the tables and some ice lollies for the childrens dessert.
This afternoon I went for a walk through the park, it was cold but dry.

My contribution to
Natural Light
The pond in the park needs a good clean out and is half covered in duckweed
but I managed to get this
Reflection
Finally one of the trees with some blossom
I think it is beautiful
A Blackthorn tree
I wonder if there will be any Sloe berries on it later in the year

Thursday Light

I was really busy yesterday so I didn't get any photos taken. I went to my knitting group in the afternoon and in the evening I attended a meeting with Coeliac UK as we are planning to start a group up here in Preston. I managed not to join the committee but offered to help out with meetings etc.
Today is very cloudy so I can't take the reflections I wanted to.
It was foggy this morning which has spoiled our lovely week.
Anyway because of this I am mixing my days up a bit.
Shadow play
Borqne see how my Hyacinths have drooped
Sunlight
I love the way the sun shines through the Camelia petals
For some reason I took this photo
I must have thought I had to take an outdoor light.

Light

Today I'm doubling up as I didn't get to blog yesterday.

Yesterday I finally FINISHED THE POMPOMS
24 columns in all, 60 pompoms. I'll never do that again. Luckily it isn't just for one day as my hairdresser is having a party to celebrate 25 years since she started her business and she is going to  take the pompoms for her room.
Roland helped our neighbour tidy up the garden of an empty house in the street. They borrowed all the neighbours brown bins and filled them so the garden looks much tidier now.

Today we went to Lytham as it was such a lovely day
and I saw these lights in a shop
 Indoor Lights

The moon was visible through the day so I have used that as an example of
Light and Dark

Books: Childhood memories

We always had lots of books around when I was a child. My mum was an avid reader and passed on her love of books to her girls. I loved Enid Blytons' Famous Five, and wanted to be like Georgina -probably where my love of detective novels came from.
I remember visiting the library in Carlisle when we were young. A great adventure as we lived in the country and it was at least 7 miles away and we would go on Saturday.
I can't remember all the Authors I read but I do remember "Tarka the otter" "Lorna Doone" "Treasure Island" "Coral Island" and Ballet shoes among others.
one of the ones I read at school was "little Black Sambo" his adventure aren't allowed any more

This one of the ones that I still have around.
Some of  the others are right at the back of the cupboard under the stairs.

Friday books

Favourite character

There are many characters I enjoy including, like Christina, Mma Ramotswe in No 1 Ladies detective agency.
But the first name that came to mind was "Rebus" from Colin Dexter novels.
Since then I have thought about Kinsey Millhone by Sue Grafton.

I have read most of the books in both series and what I like about the characters is the way they are so individualistic and don't conform to convention.

 A great reference book
I have a great many crafting and sewing reference books
This is the one I'm using at the moment.
I saw Ruth Issett demonstrating one year at Harrogate Craft show
and love to go to one of her classes

Thursday books

Today is World Book Day
Here are 2 very excited grandchildren ready to go to school and nursery

Favourite book for children
Oliver is staying with us for a few days
He loves the pictures in this book.
It is 365stories and rhymes for children.

This afternoon Amber and Leo came to see us.
We hadn't seen them since before the New year as they have had one virus after another
including Chicken pox
This was one of the books they enjoyed.

It was lovely to see them all and catch up. We were all excited at them coming.
Leo had his 2nd birthday while he had Chicken pox so today we had birthday cake.

Books

I'm playing catch up today as I was so busy yesterday. We went for my massage and they had got it down for the wrong day - this has happened before but it was my fault last time. As I didn't need to rest after my massage we went shopping in Asda then, as it was such a lovely day we decided to go to Warrington to visit M&S and Ikea. Ikea for a new rack for the shower and M&S for a top for our party and some new casual trousers for Roland as the ones he has are now far too big for him.
Today I read
this book
I'm about half way through it and think I'm enjoying it. It's about Iceland so I don't know anything about the area Quentin Bates is writing about and I find the Icelandic names difficult..
He is a new Author to me so I will look and see if he has written any others.

Fact or Fiction
I rarely read Autobiographies and I don't study any more so The only fact books I now read are
Travel books about the places we are going to visit.
I do have lots of Craft books though and look at them now and again.

I do find this book very helpful

I've got some exciting news.
Roland has booked a holiday for us in September
and we are visiting Bulgaria. While we are there we are going to visit Borqna.
while we are there.

Cones

Today has been a pyjama day for me. I didn't get up until just after 11 oclock and Sam, Jaynes friend, arrived to help me with some pompoms. Nearly done now.
AS I hadn't got dressed I was really pleased to see that Pete our next door neighbour had some traffic cones in his garden so out I went in my dressing gown and took these photos.
He was fitting out a van for his nephew and had taken the cones out of the van so he could get in it.
Cones

And my contribution is a Topiary bay tree that needs some trimming

H shape

Today Roland and I went for a walk to look for H shapes. It was a lovely sunny day but we were only out 3/4 hour and when we got home our faces felt frozen.
I managed to get some H shapes though.

I think this has poetic licence
And a photo of my favourite tree.
I love the out line of trees in the Winter
