Today I have been getting ready for our holiday as I might not feel like it after my gastroscopy tomorrow.

I had a lovely afternoon today. It was the ME craft afternoon and we had Jane come to demonstrate how to make a Dreamboard. We had lots of magazines and papers to cut up to make our dream boards. We did a lot of nattering and catching up so it was a good afternoon all round.

The Highlight of my day today was the post arriving.

Do you remember last year when the challenge was to photo something in different places for the whole week? I decided to photograph 3 of our knitted toys.
When we had finished I thought I would make the knitted toys adventures into a book for the grandchildren.

Well the book arrived into the post today.

 

Roland put it together for me and we sent the photos and script in book form to Aldi to print.

I am so pleased with the quality of the book that arrived. It looks almost professional. I can't wait to take it to show the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

I have no problem with red as I have been choosing red for some of my tops recently.

My mum used to say that only ladies of the night wore red and would never let me wear it and only bought me beiges and browns. Despite this red has always been one of my favourite colours.
 I'm not sure what that says about me.

Well I can't thank Lynne enough for this week it's been another great week.

I was thinking about what makes me happy over the year and realised each season gives me something different

WINTER:  The fact I can see through the hedges

 and see what is hidden at other times of the year.   ( I'm nosey)

 

SPRING: All the New Life, the lovely fresh greens,

 lambs.

 new plant shoots ,baby birds and their parents going mad trying to feed them.

 I could go on and on.

 

 

SUMMER: Holidays by the sea, beautiful Roses and

bedding plants

 and of course the veg out of Roands garden

 

AUTUMN: The georgeouse colours of Autumn

the smell of bonfires and the fruit from the trees and bushes.

 

 

I know there is so much more and we are so lucky to live in this world God gave us.

We must look after it for our future generations.

I slept in until 12 oclock today - another wasted day. I have an appointment next Friday for a camera to my stomach to see what is going on in there so I'll have to wait for the results until I get back from our week away. I hope my stomach is better by then.
This afternoon Roland took me to Abercan and I bought the last two pieces of fleece for my quillows.
We then went to buy some Magnolia paint for mums house and took it up to Marion.

Abercan is a great place for fabric, wool and craft.

 

They sell fabric by the metre and by the kilo.

I bought the fleece by the Kilo.

We are so lucky to have a store in Preston.

Today I was thinking about the question "What have you planned for this week/"

Well I had nothing planned but I have been getting things done.

Today I have made a huge pot of soup or at least I've started to. I took some pumpkin out of the freezer and cooked it in Chicken stock that I had made from the chicken carcass. I found I hadn't got enough carrots so I'll have to finish it off tomorrow.
I also went down to mums house because Marion and I needed to go over the contents for the solicitor. We have started our journey to selling it.
When I got home I stitched the quillows for Joe and Sian, folded them ready to take to them. I feel I got quite a bit done today.

 

Two more quillows down - two more to go.

I've got to buy the fabric for those yet.

Feeling a lot better today we even went for a walk this afternoon, only 20mins but my legs are really aching, just shows how un fit I've got.

I am getting better at demanding what I would like. I used to be awful, always putting other people first to the detriment of my health. It took a long time to learn to say NO to others if I couldn't do what they wanted.

I love being busy when my health is good so there is no problem there.
 
There are many things that make me happy, I could photograph most of them but I can't photograph the way I feel.

Some of the things that make me feel happy are thinking about Roland, my family and friends, remembering holidays, I could go on and on but I'm going to look for physical things this week so I can photograph them.

Nostalgia 3

19th January

We've had no more snow today and what is there seems to have got less. It's very cold out there and I've been inside today.
I got the boxes of photos down from the loft and have had a really nostalgic afternoon looking at them all. I've noticed some of them are still missing so I'll have to go back again tomorrow to see if I can find them.

No photos today but I'll post some tomorrow.

20th Jan

Our snow has almost gone now but Roland is watching Chelsea and Arsenal play at Chelsea and those poor men are playing while the snow is coming down. The snow isn't settling on the pitch because it is a heated pitch but they still look cold.

We had a lovely surprise today, Jayne, Leo, Amber and little Leo came to see us. They couldn't stop long as Jayne had to go to work at 3 o'clock but they stayed long enough to have a brew eat some sandwiches they had brought and of course get the toys out. It is lovely now they have a car. We will be seeing lots more of them I'm sure.

Nostalgia 2

15th January

I've not got round to nostalgia today. I've been to have some electrolysis on my chin    -the joys of 60+.
Then as I was out and about this morning I went and joined our over 55 club. They run a knit and natter on Wednesday mornings once a fortnight and I'd like to join that.
They also have trips - wether I'll go on one of those, I dont know as Roland and I tend to go on our own outings at the times we want.

18th January

Well we've had some snow today. Not a lot as we very rarely do get much. When we do it doesn't last very long so we will see what the next few days bring.

It's still snowing so we will see what has happened tomorrow.

 

Before I was 9 we lived in Derbyshire in the country and boy did it snow there. Schools didn't close and we used to have to walk a couple of miles to get there. We'd no car then - imagine. Mum with the baby in the pram and my sister and I walking. It was down a very steep hill to get to school and mum would have pushed that pram both ways twice a day. I think when the snow was very heavy we wouldn't have been able to get to school but I can't remember. I know mum used to stock up for the snow with big sacks of flour and things, so we must have got marooned now and again 

 

One winter dad made us a sledge, very posh with metal on the bottom of the runners, and we'd sledge down one of the hills near us., Dad sitting on the back and Mary and I taking turns sitting in front of him. Slalom wasn't in it. I remember us running into a rock once and taking one of the runners off. But dad fixed it and the next day we were back again. Dad had trained to be a carpenter so it was no trouble for him.

 

I could go on and on with snow stories so I think I'll split them up over the next couple of days

Nostalgia Challenge: New Beginnings

I've not taken photos for a few days so I hadn't blogged. I realise now that I need to blog every day even if I haven't taken photos or things get forgotten.
Friday, We went looking for underbed boxes as I need to put my bedding in one since we bought more bedding. I can't find a big enough one but while we were in Tescos we saw an Ipad. We were looking at it when a lovely lad came to talk to us and answered all my questions about it. There was also a Samsung Galaxy Note tablet and he also answered our questions about that one as well.
We left Tesco without a bedding box but thinking about buying the Samsung.
I've been thinking about buying a tablet for a while as my laptop is heavy to carry when we go away.
Today we went back and bought it. It is being charged up at the moment and I am really looking forward to playing with it.

I have a great deal of thinking to do as there are so many nostalgic moments in my 65 years - nearly 66.

Tuesday 15th.

Today I have 2 photos that brought some nostalgic moments.

The first is my hair.

 I had it cut today and I thought about the number of ways I have had my hair styled over the years.

I've had long hair both up and down, my up hair was either a french pleat or on top of my head in curls - 1970's I've had it medium length, Mary Quant style among others and short in various different styles depending on my mood.
 I've had different colours mainly brown to blonde but now it is its own colour. If I'd been younger I would have been going green purple and red but I think I'm past it now.

 

The Second is Janets sewing workshop

 

I first met Janet when I bought an overlocker and I went for a lesson on how to use it.

It must have been at least 10 years ago.

Janet had been making Mother of the Bride Outfits for years. She was very up todate with all the latest fashions. The children were all independent so she decided to get an adult teaching certificate and teach other people the joys of sewing.

At the overlocker class she told us she was taking weekly classes and I asked to join.

Her first classes were in various village halls and we had to take our own machines but now she has her own workshop where we can go to sew and if you need to learn more.

It is lovely to have been there from the start. We have become good friends and I go and help her out with her office work and cutting out samples.

Serendipidy 2

Today was a real serendipidy day.

 One Saturday I lost my scarf. I had left it in Costa when we went for a drink.

Today I phoned up and they said it had been handed in so Roland and I shot off  to pick it up. I couldn't believe how I felt when they got it out of the lost property box.

 I got a warm feeling all over - you know what I mean, and I'm still getting it whenever I think of getting it back again. Unfortunitely you can't see the silver threads in it.

Monday 7th January.

Today is our son, Rolys 34th  birthday and great granddaughter Ambers 2nd.

Jayne took Amber to Magic Monkeys, a play centre, for a birthday treat. they invited Oliver along so Roland took him. Andy their friend brought his little girl and Catherine and Mark went as well and I think they had a great time, unfortunately Roland couldn't take photos because there were other children there.
They all came back here to light Ambers birthday cake candle and of course have a bit of cake.
It was lovely to see them all talking and playing. The house was very quiet when they had all gone.

Sunday 6th January.

Hi all. I'm doing my best to keep up as I'm not feeling so great at the moment.
Roly and Lou came round in the afternoon with Oliver. They came to bring Roland his birthday present. He seems to have lots of sweets given him this birthday. Oliver enjoyed the new car mat we had bought him to have here. We played with planes and cars visiting Mcdonalds, school and various places with the planes.

Roland went out this morning to get some photos of our village for the blog.

I hope you can read my new blog OK. I will improve the look when I feel better. I will also take off the "prove your not a robot" as soon as I have sorted out how to do it.

January 5th

As today was such a lovely day Roland and I went for a trip to Lytham. I think the whole world had the same idea as every coffeeshop was full to overflowing and I didn't fancy sitting drinking coffee out side.

 

We went for a walk along the sea front then went to find a Costa in Preston. We had a hit of coffee then found our way home.

Roland watched his football and now we are catching up with a recorded programme

 

 

 

 



January 3rd

Today is Rolands 66th birthday. We are not doing too much today because I had told Jo, our great grandson that I would take him to the pictures in the afternoon When I arranged the day with him I hadn't realised it would be the 3rd and I couldn't let him down.
Roland and I will do something special tomorrow.

Claire gave us a lift to the cinema, then decided to stay instead of doing a double journey to pick us up.
We all enjoyed the film - Rise of the Guardians - and decided we would do it again during his next school holiday.

Roland had spent his day putting photos on the family tree. Over Christmas he has been in contact with 3 living members of his tree and is quite excited about that and we are going to meet them this year at various times..
